Basant Chaudhary Foundation has, for long, been committed to the uplift of women in Nepal. Considering the discrimination that women and girls face, no endeavor is not enough. All our activities in different sectors have the welfare of women foremost in mind.

BCF contributed Rs 2.5 million to five women journalists for their Everest expedition in May 2018. Rosha Basnet of National News Agency, Kalpana Maharjan of Megha Television, Rojita Buddharcharya of Nepal Television and Deurali Chamling, a freelancer, managed to conquer the summit. Priya Laxmi Karki of News 24 Television abandoned her bid after reaching Camp III.

The foundation also supported an expedition to Mount Everest led by Guinness Book record holder Ms Chhurim Sherpa who conquered the world’s highest peak twice within a week in 2011. Sherpa and her team were expected to carry one of Philip Hughes’s bat and jersey belonging to the deceased Australian cricketer to the summit in April 2015. But the expedition had to be aborted because of the April 25 earthquake which rocked Nepal and inflicted massive damage in terms of lives and property.

Shree Lunkarandas-Ganga Devi Chaudhary Academy for Arts and Literature established ‘Padmkanya Bahumukhi Campus Scholarship Fund’ in July 2014 with a corpus of Rupees 2.5 million for promoting higher studies in Nepalese literature.
