Basant Chaudhary Foundation supported an expedition to Mount Everest led by Guinness Book record holder, Ms Chhurim Sherpa, in April 2015. According to the Guinness Book of world records, the ace woman mountaineer has the distinction of conquering Everest twice within a week in 2011.
Ms Chhurim Sherpa and her team were expected to carry to the world's highest mountain summit a bat and jersey belonging to the deceased Australian cricketer Philip Hughes who succumbed to a head injury in a Sheffield match in November 2014. Unfortunately, the expedition had to be aborted because of the April 25 earthquake which rocked Nepal and inflicted massive damage in terms of lives and property.
